As some of you may be aware, we have for some time been making use of server virtualisation technologies on some of our hosting packages, in order to make the most efficient use of hardware (including power supplies).

I'm happy to announce that due to an initiative by our server suppliers and data centre, all of our virtual server hosts are now carbon offset by 110%...which means that they are climate positive!

Our suppliers continue to make great efforts in the recycling of server and networking hardware and the development and purchasing of equipment with lower power consumptions and less environmental impact overall. We thank them for their efforts, and try to do our bit too, using low-power consumption, high efficiency devices wherever possible, and recycling responsibly.

Macmillan 4x4 Challenge - please donate to support Cancer Care
by Admin User - Tuesday, 13 May 2008, 05:23 PM
MacMillan Cancer Support Logo Sean Keogh from pteppic.net, and his friend and colleague Geoff Campbell from Internetworking Ltd, have been accepted as one of the official teams in next year's Macmillan 4x4 Challenge. You can sponsor the team by going to http://www.justgiving.com/teamyokel

This is a multi-day event combining navigation skills, on and off-road driving, regularity trials and all in all two and a half days of very hard work, in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Care charity.

The next event runs from the 6th to the 8th March 2009, and will be the eighth challenge to be run. This year there will be sixty teams taking part, and we hope to be able to beat the totals raised for charity over the past couple of years. The amount raised for the charity for the 2008 event has just been confirmed as reaching £100,000 and we have been told that if the 2009 event manages to reach £75,000 then the total raised since the event began will have exceeded Half a Million Pounds! We want to exceed that by some way, so all donations are welcome!

Please go to http://www.mac4x4.co.uk/ to find out more information about the Challenge and the associated fundraising, or just go straight to http://www.justgiving.com/teamyokel - and donate whatever you can. And please, please tell everyone that you know, so that we can make the 2009 challenge the best yet!

Better yet - use the donate widget over there in the right-hand column --->

Moodle Demo sites
by Admin User - Tuesday, 13 May 2008, 05:17 PM
We have several demo sites available. If you wish to try out moodle for a week or two before committing to a hosting package with us, please email us on sales@pteppic.net and we will try and sort you out with a site to play with.

In addition, we have a site at edu-demo.pteppic.net which we use to test out and demonstrate additional modules and blocks for moodle, as well as related technologies such as Virtual Classrooms and Course Material production systems.

If you'd like an account on this site to browse the example courses and try out these additional facilities, mail us on the sales address, as above.
